Lemon loaf with orange glaze and orange slices
Soft, mild aroma and taste, with a sugared top and fresh orange bites! This easy-to-make lemon loaf with icing will flavor all your afternoons 🙂
Jump to RecipeThe idea to bake a lemon loaf not only decorated with oranges but also flavored with orange icing came from a blog post on “The Farmer’s Daughter” about loaf with blood oranges and pink sugar icing made from them. At first, I was fascinated by the photos – I couldn’t stop looking at those pink and red shades 🙂 and only later I thought that when I was little, I used to bake similar pastries almost every weekend!
The loaf with raisins was one of my first self-made pastries. I brought his recipe from school – my classmates and I baked it during technology 🙂 lessons, and later I used to bake it very often at home. I still remember that gentle, sweet smell coming from the kitchen 🙂
I used to serve the loaf mostly with ice cream, sometimes with my mother’s made strawberry jam or frozen berries. Even more often, I divided the loaf dough into parts and placed it in a cupcake baking pan, seasoning it with chocolate or jam.
I haven’t made a loaf decorated with colored sugar icing and oranges, but I’m not really sure why 🙂 it’s very easy to make, and I just loved the taste. Lemon or any other – vanilla, chocolate, jam flavored – loaf, covered with pastel glaze and served with yellow or blood orange, maybe even lemon slices, will perfectly decorate your dessert table.
Difficulty: We put everything together, mix, bake and decorate! And that’s it 🙂 It is not necessary to maintain the order to make this lemon loaf, if you add a little more of one ingredient than written in the recipe, the loaf will not get any worse.
Will I do it again? Yes! The loaf, it seems to me, goes well with vanilla ice cream, can be flavored with favorite jam or fruit, so there will be/was a frequent pastry in my kitchen 🙂
Who would I recommend? For everyone who loves sweetness and mild acidity – a combination of cake and lemon and orange.
What ingredients you would need to make a lemon loaf?
- Butter. Soft, room-temperature butter will be needed to make a lemon loaf. Spun with sugar, the butter turns a slightly yellowish color, acquiring a soft, creamy texture. Use your favorite butter to make the loaf.
- White sugar.
- Eggs. I like to use eggs from the countryside, they are usually a bigger size. Eggs, as well as butter, should be at room temperature.
- Milk.
- Flour. I usually use wheat flour, you can sift it before cooking.
- Baking powder.
- A pinch of salt.
- Lemon juice and lemon peel. First, grate half a lemon peel, then squeeze the juice from it.
- Raisins. Before use, you can soak the raisins in warm water, they soften a bit. If you do not like raisins, you can replace them with other dried fruits or berries.
